Why Were You Born?

The burning question for a child is why? They yearn to fill their minds with answers to the mysteries they see. Answers eventually fill the void. As adults immersed in a world we did not make, guided by the pressures of a futile culture we did not create; the mystery is still there only now spiritual in nature. It is a gap in our knowledge demanding satisfying answers which science and society can not supply: Why am I here? What purpose is there in life? Am I just another animal? The ultimate question: Why was I born?

Observing the diverse, complex life on a unique and privileged planet challenges the dogma of “evolution” from lower animals. Humans are unique, the only organism able to direct the destiny of the entire planet. There are no irrefutable facts presented by neo-evolutionists to support the theory that life sprang from nothing subsequently “guided” by genetic mutations. In fact genetics screams to be heard in this matter. The code of life, DNA, represents an intelligible language with an alphabet (amino acids) rules of spelling words (genes), syntax, and grammar. It is a language which communicates information; the design of life. Information comes only from intelligence just as this information travels from my intelligence to yours via a structured written language that follows rules, not random strings of letters on a page from some unguided accidental process.

God is the intelligence behind the DNA language of life and he has revealed that we are based on his image and he tells us this in his word. In Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness...” But who is the “our” and “us” of that verse? Did they just abandon us after creation? What was the purpose of creating something as complex, unique and wonderful as a living being able to contemplate its existence? The answers will change your life forever.

Unknowingly, we are led by a malevolent spirit, the “god of this age” as Paul calls him in 2 Cor 4:4, who has been allowed to exist by God so that we might see a clear contrast between good & evil. 'Why? So that humans might see the fruits of both ways of life and choose to live a good life leading to blessings. (See Deut 30:19-20) But it goes far beyond just the knowledge of good and evil so famously portrayed in the story of Adam & Eve. If we choose to follow good as a way of life we follow God's lifestyle. But there is a much greater purpose in doing this than just physical blessings.

God will not coexist with evil, as shown in 1 Peter 3:12 and anyone who chooses to associate with him must be of his high caliber and standards and must be right with him or righteous as scripture calls it. To be right with God requires that we are in harmony with his philosophy which simply stated is love. In 1 John 4:8 we learn that God is the essence of love. Not the kind of emotional feeling normally associated with the word love but concrete actions which demonstrate love. Christ tied love to the Ten Commandments shown in Matthew 22:37-40. Anyone in harmony with Gods Law, the Ten Commandments, is expressing God's love (Romans 13:10) otherwise they are lawless (1 John 3:4). In order to personally associate with God a fundamental change of mind & heart must occur where a person recants their former lawless ways of which we all were guilty as explained in Romans 3:23 and begins living the way God lives, demonstrating love to him and others by actions.

This change is usually stated in scripture as “repentance” an archaic English word which means to think and ultimately act differently. Not that action can earn a pardon from the penalty of lawlessness, but without actions which demonstrate change no pardon is offered. (See Luke 13:2-5) God wants us to change and is patiently waiting for our response as shown in 2 Peter 3:9. (See Micah 6:8)

The amazing reason we were born is so that we may be offered immortality as a member of the family of God to eventually become part of his government, the kingdom of God based on the law of love. While this seems so alien to anything taught by most organized religions it is plainly stated in the Bible.

1) God wishes to increase his family: Eph 3:14 “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, vs 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.” 1 John 3:1 “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!.”

2) The Father personally calls an individual into his family: John 6:44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him...”

3) He then offers that person a free gift, something no human posses; immortality through his son: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

4) Jesus Christ will return to the earth to establish the eternal kingdom of God that will supersede all human governments. Revelation 11:15 “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

5) Those humans who have been called by God, accepted the calling, and changed their lifestyle to pursue love to match God’s lifestyle will join the Messiah as immortal children at his return: 1 John 3:2 “My dear friends, we are already God's children, though what we will be hasn't yet been seen. But we do know that when Christ returns, we will be like him, because we will see him as he truly is.” (CEV) His appearance is phenomenal and is described in Rev 1:12-15 In The apostle Paul in1 Cor 15: 41-57 paints a vivid picture of a transformation from mortal to immortal for those entering God’s kingdom.

Being like Christ as a child of God in his kingdom is the awesome destiny for which we were created, the reason we were born. Those who attain immortality shall enter a plane of existence which humans can not comprehend. It will be unending life, co-existing with an infinite being willing to share his unlimited knowledge, power, resources and realm. Philippians 3:20  “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, vs 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body…”

The kingdom of God, and our entry into the family of God is why the Messiah came to the earth (Luke 4:43) and why he willingly paid the penalty for the wages we earned by our breaking the law of love. His kingdom and family is what he and his apostles spoke & taught about, and for which they were willing to die. It is a gift of God to understand a hidden precious truth, (2 Cor 4:3). There is nothing in life more important or profound. It is why humans exist and why you were born.
